Want to know more about me? Well, hopefully I have already told you about myself on the first day of school but in case you are a parent (or a student who has forgotten because- let's face it- the first day of school is madness!) here is a bit about me!
My name is Ms. Olivia Thatcher and this is my first year here at Wando. I am originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania (where many of the Amish are located) and attended West Chester University. I graduated in 2011 with a degree in History and with a Teaching Certification in Social Studies and a minor in Spanish. Soon after graduating I decided I wanted to spend a year teaching abroad before coming home and beginning my teaching career in the USA. I chose a highly recommended program in Shenzhen, China for this experience. After a year of teaching English to Chinese students, I decided I was not ready to leave China and wanted to see more of the world before returning to America for good. For the next two years I worked for an international program teaching students both United States and World History in China. While abroad I was very fortunate to have been able to travel to India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and several other countries. I am so excited to bring everything I have experienced over the past three years to our class! I love sharing stories from my travels, so never hesitate to ask any questions. I also speak fluent Spanish and basic Chinese so if you would like to practice please stop by my office hours. Other things about me- 1. I am a complete history nerd. 2. I love Thomas Jefferson above almost all things. 3. Except for maybe Harry Potter (who I met once. The actor- not the real H.P) 4. My family moved to Charleston soon before I left for college and I have a brother who is a senior at one of our rival high schools. 5. I LOVE to wakeboard and want to buy a boat ASAP. 6. I also love to ride horses and used to ride competitively when I was younger. 7. I love the Phillies and the Eagles although neither of them are very impressive lately... 8. My favorite color is green. 9. My favorite food is cheese. 10. I have been to about 25 countries and love to travel above all things (except for T.J and H.P as previously mentioned). |
